With all the different colors of paints available, one can easily be inspired to paint a room in the house. The walls, when repainted for instance, can change the look of the whole room. Paints have this power of changing the aesthetic appeal of a room inside and even outside the house. These changes always add to the attractiveness of such.
Paints come in different types as well. You may go for a glossy and reflective one or a matte one. You can choose a water-based one or an oil-based option. But whatever your choices may be, you’ll need a few tools to help you with your painting project. Here are some essential ones you need to own.
- Painter’s Tape
Others use masking tape to tape edges or surfaces to prevent paint from getting applied there. But a painter’s tape is actually better than a masking tape because its adhesive is not as aggressive as the former. Consider switching.
- Paint Can Opener
Some people use a screwdriver to open a can of paint. This is actually not advisable as you can damage the lid or any part of the can. A hole in the can will change the quality of the paint and worse, you might not be able to use it again.
- Putty Knife
A putty knife is effective in overlaying the painter’s tape tightly into a surface for a closed seal. It can also be used for scraping away paint drips, grime, or any unwanted things.
- Roller Sleeves
Buy good and decent roller sleeves. Ordinary and cheap ones may be made up of cardboard instead of plastic which will render them impossible to reuse. They don’t also hold paint that much and will leave lint and marks to the fresh paint you just applied.
- Sturdy Roller Frame
A good roller frame should go together with a good roller sleeve. A cheap frame may cause your hand to slip while applying paint. Or it may have some loose ends that will make application unstable. Good quality roller frame will not cause problems and will last for a long time.
- Extendable Handle
This is important if you need to paint the top part of the wall or even the ceiling. An extendable handle will also speed up the process of painting because you get to use both hands.
- Sash Brush
A sash brush is a paintbrush with an angled end bristles. It is very effective in cutting in done at inside corners, window sashes, against ceilings, and more.
- Drop Cloths (Canvas)
Plastic drop cloths can slip. Canvas ones will not. They are easier to spread too.
- Painting Screen and Bucket
If you have a large surface area to paint, a bucket with a screen will be very helpful. It allows for easier dipping of a paintbrush and removing the excess using the screen.
- Roller Tray
Roller trays come in different depth and sizes. A plastic one is the best option.
